Message from Greg following the Britten
Centenary Concert on 23 November 2013:
congratulations to everyone who made Saturday evening such a wonderful
success. You sang your socks off (so to speak) and the AMEN
of the 2nd hymn is still resounding in my head!
Suffice to say you all pulled out the
stops when it mattered and I hope you would all agree that our 'little'
orchestra was superb. They all had a really fun time and said
how clear the directing was from the conductor!!!.......whoever he was.
I sent a
message to Stephen Newlove thanking him so much for being a natural
Nicholas! He really enjoyed performing with us, as did Georgina Wells
who was also very complimentary.
All in all a great concert and I look forward to
seeing you on Saturday. For those who are not performing in
Thirsk on 15 December have a good Christmas and I will see you in the

A message from Annie regarding
the music needed for the 6 December
2014 concert: please let her know if you will need to hire
copies of Pergolesi
(Walton edition) and Bach
BWV140 ("Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme") (Breitkopf). [You
will also need Handel Messiah
but if you do not have your own copy Greg should be able to provide
some spares.] These scores will be handed out at the first
rehearsal in September 2014, along with copies of Chilcott Requiem and Jenkins The Armed Man
which are already on order (for the concert on 8 November 2014).
The usual TICK LIST for the Pergolesi and the Bach will be
available at the rehearsals on 16 and 22/23 November 2013, but you can
also let Annie know requirements by email .
